Isaiah 41:10- So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed. For I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
On this past Monday, I finally made the decision to do the half marathon! That’s 13.1 miles. I sat for a few hours and found a 12 week work out plan that worked for me. Searched for a few races that looked good for September, October or November. I just have to choose a race.
Tuesday morning, as I got up, I decided to do Bible Study instead of walking, by continuing to study the book of Esther. Thinking, I will walk in the evening I thought. I will go to Mad Miles run club meet up. Mad Miles came and left without me. This morning I woke up, and the first thought I heard was “You look like your choices”. Immediately I thought, that was rude. However, I knew the culprit. Yet another morning I decided not to walk as the plan I chose stated for me to do. I decided to do Bible study.
Though doing Bible study was not bad. What was bad or wrong was using it as my excuse to not go in the direction of goals that I had set for myself, and apparently the Father had co-signed on.
What he began to show me or help me to understand was that, me hiding behind Bible was rooted in fear. A fear of succeeding or a fear of failing yet another thing. A fear of how do I pencil in another activity. A fear of letting go and fear of not knowing what was going to happen if I held on.
What I do know was that I did not want to go another day, month, or year of looking like I said no.
· No to getting fit
· No to starting the book
· No to loving myself by way of my health
· No to starting over
· No to surrendering
So, here is my decision. I am praying about it and holding on to it. Looking for the answer, but I suspect I already know.
· Yes to getting fit
· Yes to starting the book
· Yes to loving myself by way of my health
· Yes to starting over
· Yes to surrendering
And maybe, just maybe, this time next year, I will look like my choices. Amen.
