Genesis 2:23- At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman, ‘because she was taken from ‘man.’”
Picture it. The first day of your created life. You feel the blades of the grass between your new naked feet, attached to your nice beautiful long thick chocolate legs. Your curves are curving. And the hair is doing what the hair can only do what your coily curly hair can do, and that is to be big and taste the wind. You turn to the right and take in the scenery of trees, fruits, the creatures, and the colors. It’s all so beautiful. Where am I? Who am I? What am I? You soon realize you are not like them. And they are not like you. Something is different. You turn to your left, and begin to see something that looks like you, but not quite you. As it begins to stare in wonder of you, it leaps quickly and boldly with a knowing as if there is some form of recognition. A bellowing voice exclaims loudly with excitement: “At last, this is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman,” And you think, if I am Woman, then this must be Man. What does that mean?
What if, like Eve, before you knew of your differences, you were told of your equality. You were told that were both created by God, deeply loved by God, and carried the breath of God in your lungs. It is the force that gives you true life. The only difference there is between both man and woman, is purpose.
Dr. Myles Munroe said it best in his book, “The Purpose of a Woman”, stating that “If you do not know the purpose of a thing, abuse is inevitable.” And he is correct. The jail and graveyards are filled with Domestic Violence cases. Sex Trafficking is alarmingly high. There is a war on women’s healthcare. Men seeking to subjugate women, desiring them to be less than so that they can appear to be more than. Women shrinking themselves to be accepted, not fully understanding their own purpose.
We were born to do so much more! We are doctors, lawyers, counselors, business owners, presidents, wives, queens, leaders, mothers, students, professors, principals, teachers, scientist, engineers, war dogs, chefs, NASCAR car race drivers, business owners, creators, innovators and so much more.
Eve’s purpose was to be a suitable helper for the first Adam. If he was the head, she was his crown. A compliment to his purpose. You are in tangent with one another. She was never less than, but always equal to. That is until….the Fall.
There was another who was a Helper. One called on by the 2nd Adam. One that we call on today. The Holy Spirit. He is just a whisper away. A thought or prayer away. Always there to guide us. See what we can not see. Direct in ways that are incomprehensible. He is not only a Helper to men, but to women alike.
To know or understand your purpose is to be in relationship with the one that assigned you your purpose. He is gracious & kind. Your purpose is not a monolith. It is not one thing,
Your purpose is comprised of your community, your environment, and your relationship to the One who created you. Theses three are essential to both your being and your becoming. Your community and your environment should echo and affirm what has been placed inside of you by the Father and what he has spoken over. If you find yourself in a space that is counter to peace, counter to love, counter to joy and counter to not just wanting what is good for you, but desiring and moving towards what is BEST for you, then you have permission to leave, to pray and find a community and environment that will the heart of the Father towards you.
Genesis 5:2 He created them male and female, and he blessed them and called them “human.”
